Lunch with New York Times Columnist John T. Edge at Henderson House

Henderson House
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of hosting a lunch at our historic Henderson House in Troy for New York Times Food Columnist John T. Edge and about 20 ladies from the Cynosure Club.
Mr. Edge was visiting to research a story on Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls and Marshall’s Biscuits. He was kind enough to help us prepare and serve the meal.
In addition to Sister Schubert’s Parkerhouse style rolls and Orange Rolls, we dined on Tomatoes Provençal, chicken salad, corn pudding and crabmeat-stuffed eggs with Mascarpone cheese. We sipped sparkling Bellinis of champagne and peach Schnapps and topped off the meal with a serving of my grandmother’s wonderful strawberry shortcake. (Look for some of these recipes in my new book, Cast Your Bread Upon the Waters, to be published this summer.)
To find out what Mr. Edge thinks of Sister Schubert’s rolls, read, “But Surely They’re Homemade?” which ran in the April 15 Dining section of The New York Times.
And to learn more about a consummate gentleman and authority on eating Southern style, visit Mr. Edge’s Web site.
Until next time,![]()
