Meeting Winners of the Sister Schubert’s On a Roll Recipe Contest
One of the best things about sponsoring contests is that I have a chance to become acquainted with the prizewinners.
Recently, I traveled to Columbia, South Carolina to appear on WIS-TV with Mary Leverette, whose recipe for Walnut Asiago Bites won first prize in the “Anytime Snacks” category of the Sister Schubert’s On a Roll Recipe Contest. Meeting Mary was as delightful as tasting her recipe.
I also received a lovely thank-you note from Nadine Mesch, the Mt. Healthy, Ohio resident who won the grand prize for her scrumptious recipe for Upside Down Banana Pecan French Toast. She’s thrilled with her suite of Frigidaire professional series kitchen appliances. Here is a little of what she had to say:
“The excitement of winning the contest has not diminished over these several months. I saved the congratulations message that was on my phone from Sister.
Working with representatives from Electrolux (a division of Frigidaire) was great. When I asked if I could have certain appliances they told me, “Nadine, our job is to make you happy.” At that moment I declared them my new best friends!
The appliances were just installed last week. They are beautiful.
Just this past weekend I was in Lexington Kentucky visiting family. I made the banana pecan French toast for Sunday brunch. My sister-in-law invited all her neighbors to try the “winning” recipe. It was great fun and everyone enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for the wonderful gifts and especially a memory that I will never forget.”
