Sister Schubert's Contests Offer Great Prizes for Cash-Strapped Consumers Sister rewards Michigan woman for her Mother's Day memories and will soon reward another customer in the On a Roll Recipe Contest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 21, 2009

Luverne, Ala. – This spring, Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls launched two contests to give recession-weary customers a chance to win cash and prizes: a Mother's Day Story Contest and the Sister Schubert's On a Roll Recipe Contest.

On May 8, company founder Patricia "Sister Schubert" Barnes announced that Mary Hoffman of Saginaw, Michigan, had won a $500 gift card and a gift basket of Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls in the Mother's Day Story Contest.

Hoffmann submitted a story of how she and her nine siblings secretly gathered together on one Mother's Day eve to create a giant Mother's Day card out of chalk on their parent's blacktop driveway. They included funny pictures and words of inspiration for their mother who, at the time, was battling breast cancer. The siblings then spent the rest of the morning in their mother's room--coffee and tissues in hand--reading to her what they wrote. Hoffman's story is posted on the SisterSchuberts.com Web site.

"I think in today's times family is more important than ever," Barnes said. "Families are staying home more, cooking in and just spending more quality time together, and at Sister Schubert's we want to reward them for doing so. These contests are a huge thank you to our biggest fans and pay homage to family time."

With only 10 days to go before the May 31 deadline, the On a Roll Recipe Contest has received more than 900 entries. Entrants were asked to submit their own recipe, which features Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls as the main ingredient.

The best recipe will win a suite of new Frigidaire Professional Series kitchen appliances, while first-prize recipes in four categories will win $1,000 cash. Rules and entry details are available on the On a Roll Contest Web site. Entrants also received discount coupons for any variety of Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls.
