LUVERNE, Ala. – An Alpharetta, Ga. woman's poignant account of her young son's Christmas-morning gratitude has been selected as the grand prize winner among more than 3,300 entries in the Memorable Holiday Moments Contest, sponsored by Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls and Meredith Corporation.
The Memorable Holiday Moments Contest ran in four of Meredith's leading magazines including Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies' Home Journal, Family Circle and Midwest Living.
Winner Heidi Britz will receive a five-night, all-inclusive vacation for four to the Riu Palace Mexico resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico, as well as a $5,000 donation to a local food bank. In addition, Meredith Corporation is donating $1,000 to Share Our Strength, a national organization that works to make sure no kid in America grows up hungry.

Between Oct. 14 and Dec. 24, 2009, more than 3,300 holiday anecdotes of 200 words or less were entered in the contest. Two rounds of judging involving executives from Meredith Corporation, T. Marzetti Co., parent company of Sister Schubert's Homemade Rolls, and Sister Schubert herself, selected the winning entries on the basis of most heartfelt, most meaningful and best adhering to the "memorable holiday moments" theme.
