Easter Egg Hunt
Each year my family and I have a large Easter egg hunt at my home in Alabama. The day before Easter we spend all afternoon boiling and coloring eggs. We use just about every color in the rainbow and we always have such fun coming up with new and vibrant colors. It never fails we always end up with a fair share of brown and black eggs! All of the children decorate one egg each in their own special way (stickers, glitter, markers) and we use them to decorate the dinner table. My tip for the most vibrant Easter eggs is to use vinegar and let the eggs cool to room temperature before coloring them.
What to do with those leftover Easter eggs?
Like I said, we dye a ton of eggs, so rather than just throw them away, we make up some tasty recipes for our post-Easter meals. Some of my family's favorites include Egg Salad, Deviled Eggs and of course my Potato Salad.
Save Our Planet!
This year celebrate Earth Day (April 22) as a family. Pick a project that your entire family can participate in on Earth Day such as planting trees, picking up trash at the local park and recycling or switching all of your light bulbs to energy-saving bulbs. By doing these earth-friendly tasks together, you will be helping to save the planet and spending quality time together.
April Showers bring May Flowers...and very bored kids!
To keep the rainy day blues away, build a Rainy Day Toolkit to keep the little ones busy. Depending on the age of your children, fill a bucket or container full of quick-and-easy activities such as coloring or activity books, new crayons, stickers, jacks, dress-up clothes, puppets or even a special snack like jelly beans or chocolate bunnies. It will keep the kids busy and give you some time to think about dinner...don't forget the Sister Schubert's Rolls!
